These days, it has become common place to be able to bring your workspace along with you. For many years, we were told that the ability to work from anywhere, whenever, and from any device was coming. Now, the Virtual Desktop App universe is the answer to that promise from Citrix and this is a brand-new standard in the development of the modern workplace. With that, we can now (finally) welcome Apple users across the world to the virtual workplace as we introduce Citrix VDA for MacOS.

You can log on securely and with ease from the train, the café, the hotel, or one of the company’s local offices. How you do so make no difference because you will be entering your well-known work environment on the screen in front of you. All security protocols have been maintained, all apps are accessible, and you can pour yourself a cup of coffee and pick up where you left off. All the while, your wonderful colleague is watching you with envy as he sits there with his Mac and waits to borrow a PC from the IT department. Luckily, those days have now come to a final end. Now, we can finally welcome Apple users to the world of Citrix VDA. This is a long-awaited, wonderful, new development.

”This is a joining of two separate universes. It can become truly powerful. It is so new that they are still adding more and more features. It is not an early release, but it is such a large undertaking that it is under constant development and the results are fantastic.”

The Same User Experience

By adding Apple users, Citrix is once again making its mark as a leading company in the Modern Workplace trend, Senior Consultant at Danoffice IT, Daniel Hassin Madsen, explains. “Now, it is finally possible to work from home on a Mac using Citrix without having to locate unsecure pathways. All security protocols from the workplace have been maintained through Citrix’ HDX protocol and you have the exact same user experience as all other Citrix users. It is the same Citrix agent which provides the exact same conditions, and it registers any changes to keyboard, mouse, monitor, and so on, as it does with PC users,” he says. “Now, there is a Workspace app on your desktop from which your VDA universe unfolds.”

A joining of two universes

According to Daniel, the new VDA for Mac solves an old conflict in the IT world and in the workplace across the world. “Apple users now have one less irritation because they have the exact same working conditions,” he says and adds: “The new VDA is truly all-encompassing. It truly is the entire Apple universe as we know it with which is connected via VDA from any other device.”

”This is a joining of two separate universes. It can become truly powerful. It is so new that they are still adding more and more features. It is not an early release, but it is such a large undertaking that it is under constant development and the results are fantastic,” Daniel Hassing Madsen says.

Sky-High Security – Sky-High Expectations

After having been a noticeable barrier, the conflict between Apple and Citrix is a thing of the past and thus, the expectations for the solution are very high. This is partially because Citrix has put a lot of effort into creating a solution which meets the high demands of our time for both efficiency and security.

“The operation level of the solution consists of the Citrix High-Definition Experience platform, HDX. This platform makes it possible to recreate the user’s data and work environment. At the foundation, VDA for MacOS is built on a technical setup created by Citrix together with the cloud operator, Mac Stadium. They have a private cloud which links to a large datacenter built on Apple’s equipment. This way, all data is maintained in the Apple universe, including the data transmission between the Mac and the cloud. This is a solid and long-awaited solution and we have already been busy rolling it out,” Daniel Hassing Madsen, Senior Consultant at Danoffice IT, concludes.
