Since 1995, when we first started our business, the guiding principle has been that IT needs to make an impact and make a difference. When the value of a collaborative effort far exceeds the actual business agreement and makes a positive change in the areas where the work is being performed, it becomes clear that what you are doing makes the impact.

This is most definitely the case for our customer of many years, Christian Aid. This is a UK-based NGO which we are helping in their fight against poverty in Africa. This is a partnership which is further enhanced by the fact that Dell Technologies is a part of this team as of today.

Since 1995, we have worked with charitable organizations across the world. Our goal is to exceed the business portion of the task every single time. We want to create results, relationships, and change. In our collaboration with Christian Aid, we achieve these goals fully. Although the core of our service is IT equipment and global logistics, the relationships are what make us successful. The focus is set on development for all three parties in our collaborative effort to serve as a global supplier for Christian Aid. IT is a critical tool in achieving this, but from start to finish, this is about people who make things happen

Sabine Heide, Key Account Manager at Danoffice IT, works with more than 50 NGOs across the world, every single day, and at the core of her workday for the past 7 years, is the collaboration with Christian Aid and in particular, their head of IT, Elizabeth Njorogo.

Point of Contact

“Christian Aid is one of the NGOs we have worked with the longest. The first time I visited their headquarters in London seven years ago, I actually met Elizabeth. She was there for a job interview and we have maintained our relationship since then. Today, it is more than just a partnership, it is a friendship,” Sabine says and adds: “Elizabeth is a young woman from the African continent who is passionate about helping other women. She is highly educated with an IT degree and serves as the International ICT Business Partner for Christian Aid. Elizabeth is the direct point of contact between the headquarters and us as their supplier. She makes sure everything is in order.”

Today, Elizabeth lives in Nairobi, but her family still lives out in the countryside. Therefore, she has of course made sure her family, and in particular, her mother, has a PC and the necessary network connection to maintain their connection.

The Logistics Component Paves the Way

”We supply equipment to Christian Aid on a global scale which includes ten countries on the African continent. It is an enormous continent and each country has its own rules and challenges so the task is a complex one,” Sabine explains. Danoffice IT has been a global supplier since the beginning and today, we have a logistics platform which is quite unique to our industry, even from a global perspective. Sabine elaborates: “We have collaborated with them for many years and they like us because we are able to deliver to any location.”

Logistics has several components and getting the products from point A to point B is actually the least of it. “We help them get their products to their end-users who are located in their divisions in the various countries. Therefore, we are also responsible for all aspects of the logistics. We are responsible for clearing customs and the documentation needed. We are also responsible for all export compliance, Incoterms, and so much more.” Sabine also points out another relationship piece which exemplifies how complex it can be to deliver to the furthest parts of the world. “Many NGOs have their own import brokers, but Christian Aid does not. Therefore, we create all their DDP deliveries (Delivery Duty Paid) and organize everything associated with it. What is more is that we manage all of this from Denmark.”

It is quite a long way from Denmark to Nairobi so how do we manage issues such as support, service, and not least, warranty? At Danoffice IT, we are one of the very few suppliers in the world who have the so-called Manufacturer Mandate. That means that we are able to offer a true global warranty, a warranty which we can move across borders and regions for our customers. “That is also the case if we are working in countries that do not normally offer Dell Technologies support. We can then still manage this through our Manufacturer Mandate and that is certainly an important piece in the collaboration between Dell Technologies, Christian Aid, and Danoffice IT,” Sabine Heide says.

Manufacturer Mandate

It is a long way from Denmark to Nairobi, so how do we handle factors such as support, service and, not least, warranty? We have, as some of the only ones worldwide, a so-called Manufacturer Mandate. This means that we are able to offer a truly global guarantee – a guarantee that we can move across borders and regions on behalf of our customer.

"This also applies if there are countries where there is no immediate Dell Technologies support. We can handle that anyway with our Manufacturer Mandate, and it certainly plays into the partnership between Dell Technologies, Christian Aid and Danoffice IT", says Sabine.

Quick, Secure, and Ready for Use

For an NGO such as Christian Aid, the key is to have the right IT equipment which will improve their opportunities to make a difference. We assist and make sure the customer does not spend time on anything other than improving the societies they serve. Preparation and maintenance of devices should not take time away from their important work. “We prepare their Dell equipment and install software, autopilot, and make them 100% ready for use so when they open a PC in Congo, it is ready to go from the beginning,” Sabine says and ads: “IT security is  clearly also a key component and all security measures are included in the preparations.” It is absolutely critical that the equipment works and this is where Dell Technologies plays an important role. “They are really good at approaching the customer with respect and ensuring that they get the correct equipment,” she says.

“The employees of Christian Aid are typically out in the field making a difference. They need to be mobile in their collaboration with churches and the many women they help. We are honored to be a part of their work and contributing to progress. Many of their initiatives are about helping people to help themselves to make sure people can support themselves locally and create results. This collaboration is very important to us,” Sabine Heide, Key Account Manager at Danoffice IT, concludes.
