HPE’s Tech Jam 2025 in Vienna became a clear demonstration of the fact that unrest remains around us. Bits, bytes, and speed were set to the side, and the focus was instead placed on the (in)security as the driving force behind the technological developments in the year 2025.
Even AI served as a supporting character. While AI remains a relevant component, it now serves as a supporting role in the efforts to keep ourselves and our data secure, both now and in the future.

HPE Tech Jam
Each year, HPE gathers their ambassador corps and specialists from partners around the world. This is a key event which took place in Vienna this year and more than 1600 partners participated. The most important technological developments both in general and in the HPE world were at the top of the agenda and at the core of the exchanges. In addition to that, this involved exchanges and debates between highly specialized HPE experts.
”The purpose of Tech Jam is to generate better counselors, and they go to great lengths to create value for their customers. The community aspect of HPE was in direct focus.”

Superb Solutions and Superb Security
The notion that the concept of sovereignty is associated with IT and technology is new to many people and a clear result of the changes in our world. Usually, the concept is used in conjunction with international security policies. This is also why the datacenter and cloud development as a whole are adapting in a parallel pattern with the unrest affecting the political climate on a global scale.
“The reports from the USA are causing the EU to make decisions at a different level than before when it comes to our data,” Niels Vejrup Pedersen says, and adds: “What we refer to as the EU Agreement nowadays (Transatlantic Data Privacy Framework), may be next on the chopping block.
This will result in Danish and European companies being forced into American cloud solutions. We are also seeing that the Danish Financial Supervisory Authorities are strongly recommending for Danish companies to address the risk associated with a Public Cloud.”
In addition to the new reports from the USA, global unrest has ultimately resulted in warfare in the digital arena. Hybrid warfare includes more than cyberattacks to infrastructure and data. This is where HPE offers solutions that not only accommodate a very immediate need to secure one’s data, but also encompasses the concept of sovereignty.
“We are seeing a clear trend of keeping one’s data inside one’s borders and this is where the HPE Private Cloud solutions are the strongest match in the market. Does that mean that we now need to start purchasing more on-premises technology once again? Yes, it does,” Niels Vejrup Pedersen, says.
Michael Schultz adds: ”The uncertainty associated with placing important data in the public cloud is eliminated by HPE’s Sovereign Cloud solutions which received a lot of attention at Tech Jam 2025”.
Sovereign Cloud or Disconnected Cloud?
Simply put, Sovereign Cloud refers to a cloud environment in which the company’s data is stored on servers located in the same country as the company itself. In doing so, the data is in compliance with the laws and regulations associated with the specific country.
However, geographical security related to data is not always enough: “there is an increased requirement for a certification of who we are, including our personal background. The door is no longer open for everyday technicians and not just everyone is allowed in.”

Uncertainty Across the Board
IT security has been the main focus at large events in the IT industry, however, maybe we need to get accustomed to a new concept: IT uncertainty? Michael Schultz explains: ”The planet has gotten about halfway through its trip around the Sun since HPE Discover last summer. Naturally, security was on the agenda, however, AI stole the show. Yet now, about six months later, uncertainty is taking up all the space.”
Several companies are putting an increasing amount of thought into where their data is located, both technically and geographically. “HPE has several solutions which can keep a company’s data secure without losing the user experience as we know it from Public Cloud. These include solutions in Hybrid Cloud, Private Cloud, and even some as disconnected cloud which means a disconnection from the internet,” Michael Schultz says.

Who Is Your IT Consultant?
At the HPE Tech Jam 2025, it also became clear that we need to impose security requirements to more than just the technology. As IT specialists, we need to be accountable for our skillsets, but we are also seeing the winds of change in this area. “It was pretty clear that is no longer just about improving our skills through technical certifications,” Michael Schultz says.
“We are going to see an increased requirement to have certifications for who we are, down to our personal background. When you are talking about Sovereign Cloud Solutions and in particular, Disconnected Cloud, an increased number of companies will require security clearances. The door is no longer open for the run-of-the-mill technician and not everyone will be invited in. At Danoffice IT, we are receiving inquiries on Sovereign and Disconnected Cloud solutions, and we are both certified in and approved to manage these solutions.”
Niels Vejrup Pedersen adds: ”The geopolitical situation is demanding and shaping the developments in security these days. If you do not select Private Cloud, it is up to you to create value and security. That distinction is relevant now and our mission is to ease the burden on our customers. We create the solutions for them to prevent the customer from using heavy resources on it and risking expensive mistakes,” he concludes.
