The key to success in working with modern, hybrid IT environments is overview and good management tools. With HPE's entry into the hypervisor market with the launch of HPE VM Essentials, a new star has come onto the scene, bringing completely new possibilities to the table.

HPE has taken the very large Enterprise solutions, simplified them and adapted them so that smaller companies can now also join in. One simple interface to run your entire virtualized environments? Here it is!

End-to-end – and full control

Are there enough hypervisor solutions on the market already? Yes. Are there solutions that offer full control in just one management solution? No. HPE is changing that by offering a platform where you can keep everything together and avoid having scattered solutions. Even without having to discard your existing systems from other manufacturers.

“All manufacturers are dependent on the software vendors they collaborate with. Many solutions are tied to third-party software – HPE is breaking with that here, to the great benefit of customers”, says Niels Vejrup, Technology Lead at Danoffice IT and Worldwide Ambassador at HPE and adds: “HPE has been through an acquisition journey in software companies, so now they can deliver end-to-end with full control over the supply chain. The biggest advantage for the customer is a unique coherence in things. A game changer for many”.

What is VM Essentials?

“The core of VM Essentials is Morpheus Cloud Management Software. Originally an expensive solution for very large enterprise customers. But now, it has been adapted so that mid-size companies can join in”, says Michael Schultz, Sales Specialist, Hybrid Platforms at Danoffice IT and Worldwide Ambassador at HPE.

“The customers get a solution that they can deploy to the entire hypervisor environment – and which can simply manage everything. For HPE, it has been important to ensure that they deliver an end-to-end solution. A type of solution that has not previously been available to smaller companies, but which everyone can now get”.

HPE VME in brief

  • HPE VME reduces both the cost and complexity of virtualized workloads by 2-4X.

  • A virtualization solution based on KVM (Kernel-based Virtual Machine) and featuring Ubuntu.

  • Full integration and support that cannot be obtained from other manufacturers.

  • Simplifies the management aspect of virtualization and Cloud Management through Morpheus.

  • Available both as stand-alone and as integrated into HPE Private Cloud.

  • HPE VM Essentials can coexist with VMware, so it's not an either/or situation – and it can manage both environments.

Where is our data?

The overview and management aspect of working with hypervisors is central. “HPE solved the entire overview issue with the acquisition of Morpheus. But not everyone benefits from – or can afford – the full version, so VM Essentials is an obvious solution. And you can always expand along the way if necessary,” says Michael Schultz.

And perhaps people ask, this is old technology – so is it news? Yes, it is very much so, because it's about everything it can do around it. The overview and management part is unique. You can even provision your virtual machines through VM Essentials. And we already know that VM Essentials will be part of many HPE solutions going forward.”

Well-proven technology

Niels Vejrup agrees and points out the advantage of a well-known enterprise solution now being available to more people. “You have to look at it this way, there are people who have spent a lot of resources over the years testing this technology – and now you also have access to it. That is a turning point. So if you are a medium-sized company and want to be more cost-effective, this solution is a good option”.

As with all other solutions, things are being developed continuously: “We are not beta testers here. It works, but we can already see that there is a fairly aggressive roadmap for what additions are on the way to VM Essentials. We cannot reveal everything here, but if you are curious, please contact us. It is a controlled rollout, and we will see many new features”, concludes Niels Vejrup Pedersen, Technology Lead at Danoffice IT.
